MPowerFM & The SANBS give life in Mpumalanga

Blood donors throughout Mpumalanga flocked to the highly anticipated MPowerFM blood donation initiative this last Saturday 28 November. The initiative formed part of MPowerFM’s Acts Of Kindness (AOK) campaign in an effort to increase blood stocks for the festive season.

The event was the first of its kind and everyone was pleasantly surprised. The gloomy weather proved a bit of a deterrent in Nelspruit, with only 21 people turning up to give life at the Grove Shopping Centre. In Secunda, Badplaas and Witbank it was a completely different story with exceptional procurement totals of 97, 46 and 42 units of blood, respectively. The total collections for the day in Mpumalanga exceeded 210% of the expected target for the day.

“The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) would sincerely like to thank MPowerFM for the generosity and efforts made in order to ensure a successful campaign. MpowerFM have truly made a difference to the lives of hundreds of people in need. A great word of thanks must also go out to all the members of the community who took a moment to roll up their sleeves. Without your commitment and motivation, many families would not be spending the festive season together.” Said Ivor Hobbs, Head of the SANBS Marketing in Mpumalanga.
